Synodal Process

In October 2018, the Archdiocese of Gatineau set out on a 15-month synodal process. A synod is a time of walking together, listening to one another, and prayerfully discerning a way forward.  The purpose of this process is to set out an action plan that will guide us for the coming years.  All parishes were invited to participate at meetings and reflections in order to identify the path for their communities.

In 2021 Pope Francis opened a universal Synod. The parishes of our diocese participated. The methodology followed and the report produced can be found at https://www.diocesegatineau.org/en/synod-2021-2023. The diocesan pastoral priorities for 2023-25 can be found at https://www.diocesegatineau.org/sn_uploads/Pastoral-Priorities-2023-2025.pdf

In October 2023 and October 2024 delegates from countries around the world will be gathered in Rome to discuss the fruits of these reports using a special document found at https://www.vaticannews.va/en/vatican-city/news/2023-06/instrumentum-laboris-calls-welcoming-yet-diverse-church.html
